Installing Water Hammer Arrestors

Step 1: Turn the hot and cold water off to the washing machine.

Step 2: Remove the hoses from the washing machine side. This is a good time to inspect the condition of the hoses for any cracking or leaking. Once the hoses are removed, inspect the rubber washer for any damage. If your washing machine has a water screen on the inlets, inspect for any debris.

Step 3: Install the water hammer arrestors hand tight first to avoid stripping any of the threads. Follow up with a 1/4-1/2 a turn with a wrench.

Step 4: Reconnect the washing machine hoses. Start these off hand tight as well. Followed by a 1/4-1/2 a turn with a wrench.

Step 5: Turn the water back on to the washing machine. Check all your connections for any leaks. You can now test the operation of the washing machine. Make sure to recheck the connections for leaks after running the washing machine.
